The Fed unveiled a revision to its monetary policy, allowing for higher inflation to help support the labor market. We believe this action could keep interest rates low for years.

Dan Hanson is Chief Investment Officer of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. and the company’s asset manager, Ivy Investment Management Company. He is responsible for leading the company’s investment management division.
Mr. Hanson joined the company in June 2019 and has more than 25 years of investment and leadership experience. Prior to joining the company, he served as Portfolio Manager and Managing Director, Office of the CIO with BlackRock from 2003 to 2013, as Partner, Head of U.S. Equities and Co-Chair of the Investment Strategy Committee for Jarislowsky Fraser Global Investment Management from 2013 to 2018 and most recently as Head of Impact Investing for JANA Partners LLC.
Mr. Hanson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and French from Middlebury College, and earned an MBA, Accounting and Analytic Finance, from The University of Chicago. He is a CFA charterholder and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Derek Hamilton joined the organization in 1996 as an economic analyst. He assumed international analyst responsibilities in 2000, specializing in foreign currencies and international economics. He was appointed assistant vice president and international economist in 2007 and appointed vice president and global economist in 2010. He was appointed senior vice president in 2015.
Mr. Hamilton graduated from Rockhurst College in 1996 with a BSBA in Finance/Economics. He earned an MBA in Finance/Management from Rockhurst College in 1999.
Mr. Hamilton is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Kansas City and the National Association for Business Economics (NABE).
Elizabeth Jones, MD, CFA

Elizabeth Jones joined the organization in 2018 as assistant vice president and equity investment analyst. Her research responsibilities are concentrated in health care (health care equipment and supplies, life sciences tools and services, non-U.S. pharmaceuticals). Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Jones was affiliated with Kornitzer Capital Management (KCM) beginning in 2003, where she held positions as a health care equity analyst and equity portfolio manager. Before KCM, she was a health care equity analyst for Bank of America Capital Management. From 1992 to 1996, Dr. Jones was a practicing MD working at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics as an Internal Medicine and Pediatric resident. She served at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, United States Public Health Service in Phoenix, Arizona from 1996 to 2000. Dr. Jones received a BS in Psychology from Georgetown University, an MD from Vanderbilt School of Medicine, and an MBA, with a specialization in financial management and markets, from Arizona State University. She is a CFA charterholder.

Ben Esty is co-portfolio manager of Ivy Crossover Credit Fund. He is assistant portfolio manager of Ivy Corporate Bond Fund and Ivy VIP Corporate Bond. Mr. Esty joined the organization in 2018 as vice president and portfolio manager. His experience in the industry is primarily with credit strategies, including high yield, loans, investment grade and convertible debt. Mr. Esty began his investment career at Citadel Investment Group in Chicago in 2001 as a credit analyst covering positions across the spectrum of distressed, high yield and investment grade debt as well as convertible bonds, equities and options. He joined Sandelman Partners in New York in 2005 as the head of research where he led efforts to standardize the investment process among analysts, developed analyst training programs and led the firm’s analyst recruitment efforts. He joined Eagle River Asset Management in New York in 2010 as a founding member of a startup credit long/short hedge fund with peak AUM of $140M. He joined Palmer Square Capital Management in Kansas City in 2014 where he was a partner and portfolio manager managing the firm’s long/short credit, high yield and investment grade bond portfolios. Mr. Esty graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001 with a BA in Economics and International Relations, with Distinction in International Relations.
